Americans say no to tailored political advertising A new survey by Joseph Turow, Ph.D., Michael X. Delli Carpini, Ph.D., and doctoral students Nora Draper and Rowan Howard-Williams demonstrates how much Americans dislike tailored political advertising. The dislike is so profound, the study found, that voters indicate they are inclined to vote against a politician who engages in tailored political advertising. The survey generated coverage in The New York Times and was mentioned on Marketplace Radio. John B. Jemmott, III, Ph.D., the Kenneth B. Clark Professor of Communication and Psychiatry, published an article on HIV education and intervention in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine. Also, Dr. Jemmott recently discussed his research at the International Congress of Psychology conference in Cape Town, South Africa. Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, appeared:
Diana C. Mutz, Ph.D., the Samuel A. Stouffer Professor of Communication and Political Science, penned an op ed for The Philadelphia Inquirer suggesting an “American Idol” approach to selecting presidential candidates. Carolyn Marvin, Ph.D., the Frances Yates Professor of Communication, talked about the book Fifty Shades of Grey on public radio station WBUR. The World Policy Institute published dispatches from the 2012 Milton Wolf Seminar, a partner project of the Annenberg Center for Global Communication Studies. Among the blog entries published were work by CGCS visiting scholar Leshuo Dong and Annenberg doctoral student Sandra Ristovska. Susan Mello, Andy Tan published in the journal Health Communication (online). The Emerging Scholars Network of the International Association for Media and Communication Research has named Annenberg doctoral student Sandra Ristovska co-chair (along with Francesca Musiani from Mines Paris Tech, Paris, France.). Deepti Chittamuru wins best paper award from IAMCR.
